I believe that the objective of school is to create opportunity for children to thrive. This implies that children grow to be strong, self-assured individuals who graduate ready to realize their full potential. Children should learn about what it means to be a complete, integrated human at school. Schools should provide kids with the freedom to be inquisitive, take calculated chances, accept failure, and dream about their potential. Young children should be given opportunities at school that push them to think, feel, and behave in a way that is honorable of them and others. Yes, we must convey knowledge and academic skills to the students. Additionally, one must honor them for more than just the knowledge they are able to retain. Students are complete individuals, not only factual experts. In order to encourage students to be their best selves, we must intentionally consider "how" we teach rather than just "what." So that they have the experience, abilities, and knowledge to accomplish it as they discover who they are and what they are compelled to do.
